With the aim of creating a company that dedicated itself to the development and promotion of design in our country, Carmen Cordera Lascurain founded the Galería Mexicana de Diseño (GMD, Mexican Gallery of Design) in 1990, a forum whose purpose was putting the designer in touch with society and its demands, thus providing both user and designer with a means to know the formal and functional aspects of aesthetics and production of objects that are made in Mexico and the rest of the world.
The project links all areas of design: craft, textiles, jewelry, environmental, graphic, industrial and interior design, and provides the necessary means to display and sell both domestic and foreign products.
Since it was founded, the GMD has presented the works of more than 750 designers; as well as the works of national and international brands, in 150 exhibitions, from 14 guest countries and more than 85 brands, thus pushing forward the work of designers and exposing the public to their oeuvre.
In 2015, to celebrate our 25th anniversary, Anatole 13, an integrative concept that included design, art, fashion and gastronomy was created alongside Saavy Studios.
Currently, with the idea of venturing into a participatory market and backed by 25 years of experience, we've established ourselves in a new forum that goes by the name of Havre 77, with new proposals in both product and interior design.
We've also integrated our partner brand Drafft, a brand that offers ample experience in visual communication, graphic design and editorial management and which under the leadership of Carmen Cordera has been one of the most innovative brands in the field of graphic design in Mexico.
